Beatrijs Vanacker
Associate Professor in French literature and Comparative literature, KU Leuven and KULAK, Belgium.
I am an Associate Professor at KU Leuven, Belgium, where I teach courses on French and European literature and literary translation theory at campus Leuven and campus Kortrijk.
My research interests focus on the history of translation and multilingualism, (female) authorship, and the relationship between literature and cultural identity formation in the long eighteenth century. Together with Francis Mus, I supervise a large FWO funded project on the visibilities of literary translators from the French in the Low Countries, from the nineteenth century to the present day (2026-2029).
I am also a core member of the FWO-funded SRN "Translating Through Time" (2026-2030, see also here).
Previously, I (co-)supervised two projects on multilingual periodicals and translators' visibilities, funded by the Research Foundation –Flanders and KU Leuven Research Fund (see "Research'').
From 2019 until 2023 I was an elected member of the Flemish Young Academy.
